Internal Communications

Employee engagement is critical to the success of any company and I have consistently identified a lack of internal communications as a key issue preventing useful information sharing and hindering employee engagement.

I have solved this problem at multiple companies.  Twice I have developed internal intranets in HTML for mid-sized companies.  I have also contracted with a vendor to implement a mobile friendly intranet platform for a company with over 1200 employees, many of them deskless.

Problem:  Initially, hourly associates did not receive company email accounts and relied on their managers for all communications.

Solution:  I contracted with Beekeeper, a mobile-first intranet platform, and created different channels for varying teams.  Associates quickly adopted the platform and we maintained 85+% use rates.

Problem:  Many associates at this company are deskless (retail, manufacturing, transport, cultivation).  This made bringing important information to their attention a challenge.

Solution:  I implemented team screens in back offices and common workspaces to share reminders, highlight critical info, and drive associates to the intranet.

Problem:  Communications were managed through email, staff didn't always remember where to find resources on the network, and there was no consistent way to get feedback and input from team members.

Solution:  A website connecting staff to all departmental resources, HR forms, a Who To Call directory, feedback forms and more.

In all of these situations, my proactive and resourceful solutions to internal communications problems led to the gain of responsibilities to develop and manage internal communications.

I have created and managed campaigns around many topics like change management, product awareness, cyber security, performance, company values, and more.  Using tools like Vyond and Canva, I've been able to make comms not only informative, but fun & engaging!
